Objective: 

This course will serve to illustrate creative use of modern tools and techniques for manipulation and analysis of genes, recombinant DNA and to expose students to use genetic engineering in biotechnological research. 

CONTENTS

1.    Agarose gel electrophoresis

2.    Gene Transfer-Conjugation

3.    Transformation of E.coli

4.    Preparation of competent cells

5.    Bacteriophage Plaque Assay for Phage Titer

6.    Isolation of plasmid DNA from bacterial cell.

7.    Restriction Digestion

8.    Demonstration of PCR

9.    Demonstration of SDS-PAGE
